Why have a health check?

More than 1.4 million people suffer from angina and 275,000 people have a heart attack annually. CHD is the biggest killer in the country.

The Lawley Pharmacy Health check involves:
1. BLOOD PRESSURE CHECK
- We measure your blood pressure using a medical grade cuff blood pressure monitor. This is a pain-free procedure and takes under three minutes. High blood pressure is linked with an increased risk of stroke and heart disease.
2. BMI CHECK
- By measuring your height and weight we can calculate your body mass index (BMI). We also measure your waist to establish whether you are within a healthy weight range.
3. CHOLESTEROL CHECK
- A quick and simple cholesterol test can determine whether you have high cholesterol. Your levels will be checked by taking a tiny pin-prick sample of blood from your fingertip. This is relatively pain-free and takes less than a second. Results are available in less than five minutes.4. DIABETES CHECK
- Using the same blood sample, we also measure your blood glucose levels. Results are available in usually less than one minute. High blood glucose levels may be a sign of diabetes.5. HEALTH CHAT
- The results of the tests will be discussed with you along with advice, what steps to take next and an opportunity to answer any other questions you may have.The checks do not serve as a diagnosis, but are an easy and reliable way to keep track and monitor your health.
